Position: Design Engineer
Location: Pickering, Ontario (Hybrid: 2-3 days in the office, 2-3 days from home)
Employment Type: Contract
Duration: 1 Year (extended annually)
Hourly Rate: $ 70 - 85/hour
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Design Engineer to join our dynamic team at the Pickering facility. This role offers a hybrid work environment, allowing flexibility between working from home and the office. The Design Engineer will be responsible for the development, design, and implementation of engineering solutions for our power generation facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and Development:
- Develop detailed engineering designs and drawings for power generation systems and components.
- Conduct feasibility studies, design calculations, and technical evaluations.
- Ensure designs meet all safety, regulatory, and operational standards.
- Manage design projects from concept through completion, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance, and safety departments.
- Prepare project documentation, including specifications, reports, and presentations.
Technical Support:
- Provide technical support during the construction, installation, and commissioning of systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues.
- Review and approve technical documentation from contractors and vendors.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or I&C Engineering field.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation in Ontario, or eligibility to obtain.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering design within the power generation or related industry.
- Experience with CAD software and engineering analysis tools.
- OPG experience
- Good understanding of OPG ECC process
- OPG DE Qual would be a plus, but not a must
