General Functions
The Estimator provides cost estimating support to enable better project management decisions on cost, schedule, and risk mitigation plans, ensuring effective project delivery.
Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed project cost estimates based on the scope provided by the Project Manager.
- Conduct earned value analysis to support project management and executive reporting, including improving processes for linking Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) costs to project schedules.
- Perform field visits to support estimate preparation.
- Assist cost analysts in analyzing variances.
- Update project cost estimates as projects become further defined.
- Develop and maintain project estimating procedures, guides, and templates aligned with industry best practices.
- Participate in post-mortem reviews of estimates and integrate recommendations into future estimates.
Mandatory Requirements
- University degree in Engineering OR an Engineering Technologist diploma.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an estimating role for capital construction projects.
- Proficiency with estimating tools and databases.
- Competence in creating and editing documents using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Excel).
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
- More than 5 years of experience in estimating for capital construction projects.
- Familiarity with advanced estimating tools and databases.
- Expertise in document creation and editing using Microsoft Office Suite.

Additional Information
- Location: Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station
- Rate: $60 - $75 per hour
- Planned Start Date: April 2025
- Planned Finish Date: April 2028
- Living Out Allowance: Up to $130/day
Scope of Work
The Estimator will provide expertise for various projects at the Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station over the next three years. Projects include, but are not limited to:
- 600V Switchgear Upgrade
- Auxiliary Boiler Replacement
- Station Service Transformer Protection Replacement
- Emergency Power Replacements
- Reactor Maintenance and Fuel Handling Projects
- Life Cycle Management Plan Execution
This role requires adherence to nuclear management system regulations, policies, and procedures. Candidates must pass nuclear security clearance before the start date.
Preferred Candidate Attributes
- Experience in estimating for large and small-scale projects.
- Subject matter expertise relevant to listed projects.
- Local residency with the ability to travel to the worksite.
- Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) designation.
- Previous experience in estimating within the nuclear industry.
