PMO & Project Controls Leader
Vancouver Island, BC
In this role, you will:
- Head of PMO reports directly to the Director of Waterfront Delivery
- Lead a multidisciplinary Project Management Office of 30+ staff responsible for Planning, Estimating, Cost, Controls, Change Management, Risk, and Scheduling
- Directly support the VIC EDWP PM to ensure project is delivered to cost and schedule
- Coach and mentor staff, while establishing best practices for all positions within the Waterfront PMO fostering a culture of continuous improvement
- Be responsible for planning, monitoring and controlling all projects within the Waterfront delivery portfolio
- Develop, implement, and govern the Waterfront Delivery departments project management processes, tools, templates, policies and metrics, which align with ourProject Management Framework
- Support Project Delivery Teams in identifying and mitigating risks and issues with the use of project performance measures
- Develop reporting dashboards and project performance against agreed performance measures
- Develop and maintain project schedules within portfolio
- Provide guidance and support to project managers within the Waterfront Delivery Department Lead business improvements in performance analysis and project control tools
- Oversee cost-based budget management and financial forecasting for the projects and PMO, ensuring robust financial governance and accountability
The ideal candidate brings:
- Masters (preferred) or Bachelors of Business Administration or Engineering with significant experience in Finance and Business or similar.
- 15+ years leadership experience, demonstrating a progressive increase in responsibility related to: project scale, complexity and financial value
- Expert level knowledge of project and change management, methodologies, techniques and processes.
- Expert level knowledge of project Planning, Change, Control, Cost, Risk, and Scheduling
- Superior verbal and written communication skills, including writing formal reports, and delivering presentations.
- Project Controls experience on projects or portfolio with values of $300m or greater
- PMP or PgMP highly desired.
- Eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance.
