Project Engineer
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Project Engineer to join our team in the Nuclear sector. The Project Engineer will be responsible for managing and overseeing the delivery of nuclear engineering projects from inception to completion. This includes ensuring the projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget while meeting all regulatory, safety, and quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess a strong engineering background, project management skills, and experience working in a highly regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Project Management:
Lead and manage the planning, design, and execution of nuclear projects, including the coordination of cross-functional teams. Ensure the successful delivery of projects in accordance with the agreed scope, budget, and timeline. -
Engineering Design & Integration:
Oversee the integration of engineering designs, ensuring compliance with nuclear safety standards, technical specifications, and regulatory requirements. Coordinate with design, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineers to ensure smooth project execution. -
Regulatory & Compliance Management:
Ensure that all projects comply with industry regulations (NRC, ASME, ISO, etc.), nuclear codes, and safety protocols. Manage the preparation of documentation required for regulatory approval and inspections. Monitor adherence to all nuclear industry safety and quality standards. -
Risk Management:
Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies. Continuously assess project progress and anticipate issues, proposing corrective actions when necessary. Maintain a focus on safety, quality, and regulatory compliance throughout the project lifecycle. -
Budget & Schedule Management:
Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently. Track project progress against budget and timeline, providing regular updates to senior management and stakeholders. Ensure that cost estimates, procurement, and resource plans are adhered to. -
Stakeholder Communication:
Maintain clear and consistent communication with internal teams, contractors, vendors, and external stakeholders. Prepare and deliver reports, presentations, and progress updates to senior management and clients. -
Procurement & Vendor Management:
Work with procurement teams to identify and select vendors, suppliers, and contractors. Ensure timely delivery of equipment and services, and monitor the quality and performance of third-party suppliers and contractors. -
Documentation & Reporting:
Ensure the accurate documentation of all engineering processes, project progress, and technical specifications. Prepare detailed reports for project reviews, audits, and regulatory submissions. Keep track of project milestones and document any changes or issues. -
Commissioning & Quality Assurance:
Oversee the commissioning and startup activities for new systems and equipment. Ensure that all systems and components are tested, validated, and meet all operational and safety criteria before being handed over to operations. -
Continuous Improvement:
Contribute to the development of best practices for project execution. Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to enhance project delivery, safety, and performance.
Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear, Civil, or related field). A Master's degree or PMP certification is a plus. -
Experience:
Minimum of [X] years of experience in project engineering, preferably within the nuclear, power generation, or heavy industry sectors. Experience managing multi-disciplinary engineering teams and complex projects is essential. -
Skills:
- Strong understanding of nuclear industry standards, codes, and regulatory requirements (e.g., NRC, ASME, ISO, NQA-1).
- Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, etc.).
- Knowledge of project life cycles, including design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and operation phases.
- Experience with risk management, quality control, and safety management in regulated environments.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail.

- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is highly desirable.
- Relevant nuclear industry certifications or training is a plus.
Additional Requirements:

- Willingness to undergo security clearances and background checks as required for nuclear-related roles.
