Quality Assurance Inspector
Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance Professional with expertise in Inspection & Test Plan (ITP) writing, visual weld inspections, and work order task instructions. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements by developing comprehensive ITPs, conducting weld inspections, and writing detailed work order task instructions. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong technical writing skills and a deep understanding of quality control processes in fabrication, welding, and construction environments.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) for welding and fabrication projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards (ASME, AWS, API, etc.).

Conduct visual weld inspections and oversee non-destructive testing (NDT) methods such as VT, PT, MT, UT, and RT.

Write clear and detailed work order task instructions to guide production, inspection, and testing activities.

Participate in the implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure compliance with customer contracts, technical specifications, codes, standards, and jurisdictional requirements.

Provide regular updates to the Quality Manager and Senior Leadership regarding the status of the QMS and its implementation.

Establish working relationships as required by the QMS to facilitate the performance of quality activities.

Support the selection of Quality Program Requirements for defined scopes of work.

Assist with the review of purchasing documents to ensure compliance with quality requirements.

Assist in the preparation of detailed work plans, identifying manpower and equipment requirements for specific quality programs.

Develop and participate in training programs to enhance team capability in corporate safety and business processes.

Ensure that quality activities are properly scheduled within project timelines.

Review and assemble quality documents while coordinating with stakeholders.

Communicate regularly with stakeholders regarding the status of quality deliverables.

Participate in completion assurance activities, including reviewing vendor documents.

Monitor field execution work activities to ensure adherence to quality standards.

Assist with the generation, implementation, and closure of corrective actions.

Participate in audits, supplier qualifications, and management processes.
Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree, diploma, or related experience in engineering, construction, or a relevant discipline.

Minimum 5 years of experience in quality assurance, ITP development, and weld inspection.

Certifications in welding inspection (e.g., CWI, CSWIP, API 570/510/653, CGSB NDT Level II) are highly preferred.

Strong understanding of industry codes and standards (CSA-N286, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ASME NQA-1, CSA-N299, CSA-B51, CSA A23, API 1104, AWS D1.1, etc.).

Proficiency in writing technical documentation, work order task instructions, and quality reports.

Familiarity with welding processes (SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, SAW) and materials used in construction and fabrication.

Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and related quality control measures.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Certification as a Quality or Process Engineer, Six-Sigma Belt, or equivalent is a valuable asset.

Certification as an Auditor/Lead Auditor to a national scheme is desirable but not mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in oil & gas, construction, or manufacturing industries.

Experience in civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines as they relate to quality activities.

Demonstrated experience in the application of quality assurance and control processes within design, procurement, construction, commissioning, operations, and decommissioning.

Experience with welding software and inspection tools.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- Bruce Power or OPG clearance is considered an asset.
