Waste Management Process Design Specialist

Responsibilities:
- Provide design solutions for nuclear waste management systems, environmental assessments, and licensing support for new, updated and modified process systems, structures and components.
- Prepare and /or review design documents for Nuclear Power Plants, e.g., Design Guides, Decommissioning, Emission Reduction, and Waste Management Strategies, ALARA Assessments, BAT Assessment for Waste Management Processes, Environmental Monitoring Protocols, Condition Assessments.
- Perform public dose pathways modeling.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to engineers at lower grade levels and/or other technical employees.
- Prepare and/or review Engineering Quotation Request and Tender Technical Evaluations.
- Provide expertise in support of Engineering proposals and requests from existing stations.
- Perform walkdowns, attend site visits and meetings as required.
- Interface with internal and external stake holders as required.
- Ensure adherence to company quality program.
- Ensure applicable code, standards and regulatory requirements are met.
Qualification:
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in Ontario
- Engineering degree from an accredited University in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering or Engineering Science.
- A minimum of 20 years of experience in heavy water and tritium management, waste management, radiation and environmental protection, environmental impact assessment, refurbishment, safe storage, decommissioning and ALARA (As Low As is Reasonably Achievable) and BAT assessment of CANDU design.
- Experience performing work to nuclear power plants procedures and practices and qualifications for nuclear power plants engineering activities.
- Experience in process system design and layout.
- Working knowledge of/experience using nuclear Codes and Standards related to waste management, decommissioning, environmental assessments, including CNSC REGDOC-2.7.1, REGDOC-2.5.2, REGDOC-2.9.1, REGDOC-2.9.2, REGDOC-2.11, and REGDOC-2.11.2, CSA N288.5, CSA N292.2, CSA N292.3, CSA N292.5, CSA N292.6, CSA N294, CSA N285.0, ASME Section III, and Canadian Radiation Protection Regulations SOR/2000-203.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Site experience in construction, or commissioning of plant mechanical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries is an asset.
- Eligible for Security Clearance through Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC).
