Job Title: Projects Control Manager
Location: Vancouver Island, BC
About the Role:
As a Projects Control Manager within the PMO, you will play a critical leadership role, ensuring our business has the necessary tools, processes, and measures to maintain consistent and controlled project messaging, reporting, performance analysis, executive governance, and integrated project controls. You’ll manage a team of approximately 10-15 professionals, overseeing essential functions such as Cost Control, Scope Control, Change Control, Risk Management, Earned Value, Project Communications, and Project Controls Reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide leadership within the Project Management Office, supporting project and program delivery.
• Lead and manage a team of 10-15 professionals responsible for core project control functions.
• Drive consistent, high-quality outputs in project control support, ensuring transparency and timeliness.
• Oversee integrated business planning activities to enhance future business activity forecasting, resource planning, and decision-making.
• Establish governance for project, program, and business performance measures, ensuring clear and concise reporting.
• Lead the development and enhancement of performance analysis tools for improved project control.
• Support Project Delivery Teams in identifying and mitigating risks using project performance measures.
• Develop and maintain dashboards to monitor project performance against agreed measures.
• Review proposals and RFPs to ensure alignment with operational and project control requirements.
• Collaborate with Financial Controls to enable accurate project forecasting.
• Support projects in closing activities and reporting processes.
• Identify opportunities for process and performance improvement across projects.
• Liaise with Business Improvement and Quality Management teams to align performance measures.
• Work closely with Project and Program Managers to support Project Control, reporting, and communication.
Qualifications:
• Eligibility for Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with an ability to articulate complex issues clearly.
• Proficiency in challenging existing processes to drive improvements and hold stakeholders accountable.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills to engage effectively with personnel at all levels, including senior executives, clients, and subcontractors.
• Self-starter with flexibility, resilience under pressure, and excellent problem-solving abilities.
