Civil Design Engineer
Location: Tiverton, ON
Work Arrangement: On-Site
Rate: $50 - $95/hour (Depending on experience – Junior to Senior positions available)
Employment Type: Full-time or Contract
Summary:
We are seeking a Civil Design Engineer to provide engineering support for the Steam Generator Replacement Project in Tiverton, ON. This role involves developing and verifying structural calculations, analyzing existing structures, and providing engineering justifications for construction changes. The successful candidate will have expertise in structural steel and concrete design, with the ability to resolve field issues requiring design modifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and verify calculations and analysis of existing structures.
- Prepare Design Change Notice (DCN) packages following customer engineering change procedures.
- Support field construction activities, including field change notices, design revisions, commissioning, and engineering change (EC) closeout.
- Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, including CSA S16, A23.3, N291, S136, and S157.
- Provide technical guidance and review work performed by junior engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Coordinate change requests from construction and procurement teams.
- Independently assess and propose improvements in methods, systems, and models to enhance project outcomes.
- Resolve complex field issues efficiently, ensuring project continuity and adherence to project timelines.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Engineering Technology.
- 3-5 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Strong knowledge of structural design standards and techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
- Proficiency with PC-based applications, including MS Office.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- P.Eng. license in Ontario (highly preferred).
- Experience with CANDU nuclear reactors and associated plant systems.
- Proven ability to manage large-scale projects (>$20M) and lead project teams.
- Strong leadership qualities and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
