Control Systems Engineer
Location: Pickering, Ontario
Duration: 1 year (Contract)
Hourly Rate: $70 – $85/hour
Project Context
This opportunity is part of the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station (PNGS) Refurbishment Project, focused on upgrading the facility's critical control systems, including the Digital Control Computer (DCC). The team is looking to fill multiple roles, including positions for engineers with expertise in control systems and control computer/software development within the nuclear sector.
Responsibilities
- Lead and contribute to the design, development, and implementation of DCC replacement systems.
- Design and develop control systems and associated software to support nuclear facility upgrades.
- Conduct detailed engineering analyses and propose innovative technical solutions for system improvements.
- Ensure all designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and project specifications.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate new systems with existing infrastructure.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, design documents, and specifications.
Qualifications
- Nuclear Industry Experience: Proven experience as a Design Engineer or Control Systems Engineer, with expertise in DCC systems or control computer/software development.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong background in control systems engineering, automation, and software development specific to nuclear applications.
- Regulatory Compliance: In-depth understanding of nuclear industry safety standards and compliance protocols.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to deliver innovative and effective design solutions.
- Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to work within cross-functional teams and communicate complex concepts effectively.
Work Environment
- Location: Pickering, Ontario (hybrid work model available).
- Availability: Full-time preferred; part-time arrangements negotiable for exceptional candidates
