Role Overview
The Construction Officer Level 3 acts as a construction site coordinator and inspector on multiple or large civil, electrical, and/or mechanical projects to ensure the work, materials, progress, and costs meet project requirements.
Responsibilities
- Inspect construction work, including substations, transmission lines, and hydroelectric equipment, to ensure compliance with building and safety codes.
- Ensure work site safety by prioritizing safe execution and performing safety observations using knowledge of safety standards and regulations.
- Conduct or coordinate site testing, surveying, and estimating activities by interpreting engineering drawings to support timely project progress.
- Support contract or work order administration by collaborating with contractors and internal construction services to ensure work meets expectations and is implemented as planned.
- Provide advice on complex technical issues and act as a subject matter expert to support project execution.
- Respond to construction inquiries using strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to professionally represent the project team on-site.
Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of a National Diploma of Technology in Civil, Structural, or Electrical disciplines from an Institute of Technology, or relevant trades apprenticeship courses.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of related construction work experience.
- Additional experience in contract management is an asset.
- Strong knowledge of safety standards and regulations, including Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Standards and WorkSafe Regulations.
- Advanced English skills for a professional environment, both written and spoken.

Locations and Projects:
- Projects are located across the Northern and Southern Interior of BC, including areas such as Prince George and the Terrace corridor.
- Preference will be given to candidates living in Prince George, Smithers, Terrace, or Kitimat.
- Project types include new construction, upgrades, and retrofits of substations, capacitor stations, and transmission line infrastructure.

Work Rotations:
- Rotations typically follow a 14-7 schedule, with potential for 10-4 depending on project requirements.
- Local candidates may work a 5-2 schedule; however, rotations may be required for adequate project coverage.
- Travel and accommodations will be covered for work-related assignments.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience in substation construction.
