Position Overview
BC Hydro’s in-house Creative Services team is seeking a Creative Designer (L1) for temporary coverage from late April to late October 2025. This role will support the team during a hiring process for a permanent replacement, parental leave, and additional summer audiovisual (AV) needs. The successful candidate will contribute to internal and external design projects and ensure alignment with BC Hydro’s brand standards.
Key Responsibilities

Design and produce a wide range of marketing, promotional, and communication materials, including brochures, newsletters, posters, digital assets, icons, banners, signage, and videos.

Interpret creative briefs, collaborate with stakeholders, and conceptualize visual approaches aligned with project objectives.Apply advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects) to create compelling, high-quality designs.

Execute photo editing, layout, and vector artwork development for both print and digital media.

Support internal clients by formatting and manipulating existing artwork, photography, and various digital files.

Provide production specifications and manage relationships with external print and media vendors.

Manage digital asset libraries and maintain accurate records of design files and publications.

Collaborate closely with the Creative Services Manager and Creative Production Coordinator to ensure timelines and quality standards are met.

Support peer review and feedback loops, contributing to a collaborative team environment.
Qualifications

Certificate or Diploma in Graphic Design, Digital Design, or a related field (e.g., Marketing or Communications); or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Minimum 4 years of experience in graphic or digital design, with demonstrated experience using Adobe Creative Suite on Macintosh workstations in a server-based environment.

Strong portfolio showcasing print, digital, and web design work.

Excellent knowledge of industry-standard print production and pre-press techniques.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines.

Proven ability to explain design concepts and creative rationale to clients and stakeholders.

Experience with motion graphics, video editing (Adobe Premiere), 3D design (Adobe Dimension), HTML5 ad creation, UX/UI design (Figma) considered a strong asset.

Familiarity with BC Hydro’s brand standards (preferred, but not required).
