Position: Project Controls Director
Location: Chalk River, Ontario (Flexible location after the first 6 months)
Employment Type: Full-Time for initial 6 months, flexible thereafter (negotiable post 6-month period)
Travel & Relocation: Paid per Government of Canada travel directives
Role Overview:
CNL is seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Controls Director to establish and lead a robust project controls framework. This position is essential in ensuring successful project delivery by integrating planning, scheduling, cost control, and reporting functions across multiple projects. The successful candidate will work full-time for the first six months to set up the infrastructure, processes, and systems needed for effective project control. After the initial period, flexible working arrangements, including remote work, may be discussed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive project controls system to ensure accurate project forecasting, scheduling, cost management, and performance tracking across multiple projects.
- Oversee the development of detailed project schedules, work breakdown structures (WBS), and project timelines to ensure timely and efficient project execution.
- Establish cost control procedures, including budget preparation, cost forecasting, and variance analysis, to ensure projects are delivered within financial constraints.
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks and opportunities. Implement mitigation strategies to minimize project delays and cost overruns.
- Generate regular progress reports, including performance metrics, cost, and schedule updates, to keep key stakeholders informed. Present project status and outcomes to executive leadership.
- Lead and mentor a team of project control professionals. Collaborate closely with project managers, contractors, and government entities to ensure cohesive project execution.
- Continuously evaluate and refine project controls processes, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and organizational goals.
- Ensure all project control activities adhere to CNL’s policies, procedures, and government regulations, particularly those related to the nuclear industry.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, Business, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in project controls, with a focus on large-scale, complex projects (nuclear industry experience a plus).
- Proven expertise in cost control, scheduling, risk management, and project forecasting.
- Proficiency in project management and scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, Microsoft Project).
