Roles & Responsibilities
- Participates in the implementation of the quality management system to ensure compliance with the customer contract, technical specification, Code, Standard and jurisdictional requirements.
- Provide regular updates to the Quality Manager and the Senior Leadership team regarding the status of the Quality Management System and its implementation.
- Establish the working relationships as required by the quality management system to facilitate the performance of quality activities.
- Support the selection of Quality Program Requirements for defined scopes of work.
- Assist with the review of purchasing documents.
- Assist in the preparation of detailed work plans identifying manpower and equipment requirements for performance of specific quality programs.
- Develop and participate in training programs as required to achieve full capability within the various corporate safety and business processes necessary to function in the workgroup and its working environment.
- Reviews the project schedule to ensure that quality activities are scheduled properly.
- Review or assembly of quality documents and coordination with the skakeholders
- Communicate on a regular basis with stakeholders regarding the status of quality deliverables. Participate in completion assurance activities including review of vendor documents.
- Escalate issues/ concerns in a timely basis to ensure adequate awareness of the status of the work.
- Monitor field execution work activities.
- Assist with the generation, implementation and closure of actions associated with the problem identification and resolution process.
- Participate in the Audits and supplier qualification and management processes.
- Perform other duties as required.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree, or related experience in lieu of degree is desired but not mandatory.
- The successful candidate should have post-secondary education in engineering, construction, or other relevant discipline.
- Two years of experience in a nuclear quality assurance role where you have gained an understanding of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a particular field of specialization.
- Certification as a Quality or Process Engineer, Six-Sigma Belt, or equivalent would be a valuable asset.
- Certification as an Auditor/Lead Auditor to a national scheme is desirable but not mandatory.
Experience
- 5+ years’ experience in field quality management roles on large complex projects. Previous experience that focusses on quality management is desirable.
- Experience in civil/mechanical and electrical disciplines as they relate to activities affecting quality.
- Demonstrated experience in the application of quality assurance and control processes within the areas of design, procurement, construction, commissioning, operations, and
decommissioning.
Qualifications
- Qualifications/ • Requires solid technical writing and strong computer skill set.
Ability to work in a team environment. - A working knowledge of one or more of the following quality-related standards/codes: CSA- N286, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ASME NQA-1, CSA-N299, CSA-B51, CSA A23, Federal/Provincial Construction Regulations, Codes and Standards.
- Oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate quality and technical issues. In addition, the Quality Specialist must be capable of working with minimum supervision demonstrating a respectful work environment.
