Job Title: MP2 Project Coordinator
Duration: 14 months (starting January 2025)
Hours: 35 hours/week (Candidates must be flexible to work more than 44 hours per week as needed)
Location: Refurbishment Project Office, 1 Holt Rd S, Bowmanville, ON L1C 3Z8 (100% onsite)
Job Overview:
Position Summary:
The MP2 Project Coordinator will support the Supervisor and project teams in organizing, coordinating, and executing multidiscipline projects. This role provides technical and administrative support to ensure the successful completion of projects while adhering to governance standards in Project and Contract Management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Coordination: Assist in managing defined stages of projects, ensuring alignment with Project Management governance for various phases.
- Process Implementation: Help implement approved project management processes, including phase-gating, scheduling, cost control, change management, and risk analysis.
- Project Delivery: Work with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure project objectives for safety, quality, budget, and schedule are met.
- Documentation Support: Assist in preparing project documentation, including Business Case Submissions for senior management and coordinating necessary project information for decision-making.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Maintain close communication with construction forces and operations teams, ensuring design, scheduling, and costing issues are addressed efficiently.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor project cost and schedule, handle variance reporting, and recommend corrective actions when necessary.
- Issue Resolution: Help resolve project-related issues and ensure that changes in scope, schedule, and cost are managed according to established processes.
- Communication: Maintain regular communication with internal and external stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and other parties to ensure project objectives are met.
- Site Visits: Participate in site visits and inspections, both locally and abroad, to observe and report on manufacturing processes and project progress.
- Process Compliance: Support adherence to corporate procedures related to project control and ensure compliance throughout project execution.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on technological advancements in project management, engineering, and construction, and share insights for process improvements.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, or a related field.
- Knowledge of project management principles and the five primary project phases (Identification, Initiation, Definition, Execution, Close-out).
- Strong communication skills in English (both written and verbal).
- Additional post-secondary coursework in project management and business economics is a plus.
Experience:
- 2-4 years of experience in project management, including:
- Preparing cost estimates and project documentation.
- Participating in RFP and contract bidding processes.
- Managing projects in various stages, from execution to close-out.
- Working with conflicting priorities such as scope, schedule, cost, and quality.
- Familiarity with construction methods, health and safety standards, and quality assurance.
- Experience working in heavy industry or power generation environments is an asset.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
