Senior Safety Engineering Analyst
Location: Toronto - on site 3 days per week

Salary: $128,000 - $159,000

Responsibilities
- Plan, co-ordinate, and supervises an engineering section involved in a technical issue or several smaller engineering assignments with complex features requiring application of intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in related fields. Reviews technical documents prepared by employees supervised. Prepares inputs into and monitors budgets, estimates, schedules, work packages. Co-ordinates with other groups as required to establish interfaces.
- Use advanced techniques and/or modify theories, precepts, guides and practices in his/her own field.
- Modify established guides, devise new approaches and form conclusions from comparable situations.
- Represent the section in meetings dealing with problem resolution and the planning and co-ordination of work. May be delegated to represent the branch or department on occasion.
- Review recommendations for soundness of judgement; modifications to standard designs and decisions are subject to management review.
- Supervise, co-ordinates and reviews the work of engineers and support employees; estimates and monitors schedules and assigns work to meet completion dates.
- Provides input or makes recommendations to management with respect to performance appraisal of and leave for employees supervised and may be called upon to provide input or make recommendations concerning selection, training and discipline.
Qualifications
- A relevant Engineering or science degree with at least 10 years of relevant experience;
- Must be conversant with computer environments; proficiency in both Linux and WINDOWS environments is a strong asset;
- Broad knowledge of thermal-fluid sciences (fluid flow, heat transfers, multi-phase flow and thermodynamics)
- Familiarity and experience with some of the safety and licensing computer codes such as CATHENA, NUCIRC, GOTHIC and MAAP
- Proficiency in computer programming, especially FORTRAN, is desirable;
- Good knowledge of the CANDU design, with particular emphasis on the heat transport system (HTS) and plant control, containment and moderator systems would be an asset
- Experience in licensing activities would also be an asset
- Must be willing to travel occasionally to participate in meetings and workshops.
