Job Overview
- Provide technical evaluations and advice, solve problems and coordinate work as required, in multi-disciplinary teams of engineering and technical specialists, to support OPG's Consolidated Nuclear Emergency Plan.
- Support development and execution of drills and exercises.
- Support and advocate for resolution of Equipment Important to Emergency Response. Support preparation of Emergency Response Oversight Committee on a quarterly basis.
- Support training requirements for Enterprise Emergency Management, including defining and updating the training requirements. Support monitoring and measurements of performance measure systems including updating key performance indicators for Enterprise Emergency Management.
- Support with maintenance and testing of emergency facilities and equipment in emergency operations centres. Support updating of documentation and governance.
- Lead projects, develop work plans, supporting, and tracking the execution of projects in compliance with the industry's demanding set of regulations and standards and satisfaction of the client and supervisor.
- Perform as a technical expert in a designated segment of the assigned technical discipline(s).
- Provide technical advice to support OPG operation and contribute as required to committees and task forces to conduct studies and work programs for OPG and/or other utilities or industries.
- Keep abreast of latest developments in the assigned technical discipline, through reference to relevant technical publications and regular interface with research, industrial, and educational bodies.
- Maintaining written documented processes and procedures to reflect improved operating methods and additions to all supported systems.
- Collaborate with field teams for planning and execution of drills and exercises.
Qualifications
Requires the following experience, knowledge and abilities:
- Project management, specifically, experience in developing project requirements and plans, preparing cost estimates, participating in request for proposal and contract bidding and award processes, managing projects in execution phase, and managing project closeout.
- Managing conflicting priorities of scope, schedule, cost and quality.
- Familiarity with equipment and processes in generating station or similar heavy industry. Strong organizational skills.
- Experience and ability as a team player to understand and manage the interrelationships of various internal and external groups in order to facilitate objectives and ensure projects satisfy stakeholder requirements.
- Experience and knowledge related to Consolidated Nuclear Emergency Plan and Provincial Nuclear Emergency Plan Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of OPG's ECC Process (Engineering Change Control) is an asset. Experience in field working through planning and execution of testing is an asset.
- Advanced degree in engineering (master's and PhD) and Professional Engineering license (P.Eng.) are considered an asset. A period of over 6 years and up to and including 8 years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
