Job: Buyer at Structural Steel and Miscellaneous Metals Company
Type: Full-Time, on-site
We are seeking a dedicated Buyer to join our team. If you have a keen eye for detail and a strong background in purchasing and inventory management, we want to hear from you!
Must have Steel industry experience
Principal Tasks:
- Raw Material Procurement
- Purchase various grades and cross sections of steel (HSS, beam, flat, round, etc.)
- Acquire different grades and cross sections of stainless steel
- Source specialty metals including grating, deck, and mesh
- Sublet Process Coordination
- Manage cutting processes (laser, plasma, etc.)
- Oversee bending tasks (steps, profiles, etc.)
- Coordinate painting and polishing activities
- Galvanizing Coordination
- Schedule and transport galvanizing tasks
- Manage weights and logistics
- Subcontracted Items Coordination
- Oversee structural and miscellaneous metal subcontracting
- Shop Supplies Purchasing
- Source welding, plasma, and torch supplies
- Purchase protective equipment (gloves, ear protection, safety glasses, etc.)
- Manage general and miscellaneous shop supplies
- Tooling Procurement
- Buy cutting blades, small tools, welding equipment, and specialty tools
- Inventory Management
- Maintain and oversee stock and raw material inventory
- Provide weekly status reports on inventory levels
- Tooling and Equipment Maintenance
- Oversee shop equipment (cranes, saws, punches, etc.)
- Manage stock room and truck equipment
- Coordinate maintenance and inspections for forklifts, trucks, and other rolling stock
- Tool Rentals Coordination
- Handle one-time and recurring tool rentals
- Transport and Delivery Coordination
- Work with production manager, project managers, and foremen on internal and external trucking logistics
- Records and Paperwork Control
- Maintain and coordinate records with the office manager, including bills of lading, purchase orders, equipment certifications, and more
- Shipping and Receiving Oversight
- Confirm quality and quantity of received goods against purchase orders and project numbers
- Stakeholder Assistance
- Collaborate with production manager, project managers, and foremen to prepare materials for work orders
Qualifications:
- Experience in procurement and inventory management
- Knowledge of structural steel and miscellaneous metals
- Strong organizational and coordination skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders
