Summary
Supporting the Distribution Engineering Programs team in providing engineering support of new, end-of-life, and automation programs Act as BC Hydro’s Owner’s Engineer (OE) and review Engineering Service Provides (ESP) design submissions Apply BC Hydro standards and design instructions Work with Distribution Regional Engineers (DRE) and ESP in providing non-standard solutions Reviewing and designing device settings in collaboration with DRE Supporting and ensuring the successful implementation and commissioning of distribution equipment
Work Assignment Requirements:
Knowledge of distribution equipment up to 25kV Knowledge of Protection and Controls (P&C) for device settings Knowledge on how to perform load and short circuit studies Knowledge of BC Hydro standards would be an asset Good written and oral communication skills are essential
Distribution Engineer programs
• All the required Experience and Role Accountabilities shall relate to Overhead - and underground electric utility distribution systems operating at voltages at or below 35kV.
• Support operations, maintenance, repair, replacement and expansion of the BC Hydro Distribution System.
• Investigate, analyze and solve a variety of engineering problems, including the more challenging and unusual, by developing engineering techniques, devising new approaches and/or applying existing criteria in new ways
• Provide technical guidance, instruction, and assistance related to the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and modifications of equipment
Education and Skills
•University graduate in applied science or engineering
•Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Geoscientist (P.Geo.) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC or with another jurisdiction and eligible for registration as such with Engineers & Geoscientists BC
