Reporting to the Director of Retube, Inspection and Maintenance Systems, the Mechanical Engineering Specialist would support one of the various Refurbishment or New build projects on the Fuel Handling team. This leader will be responsible for individuals and teams executing commercial and internal work packages and projects, with respect to Fueling Machine Design including other closely related disciplines.

- Perform conceptual and detail design engineering work on mechanical equipment and systems, including process related design on D2O, oil hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Mentors and/or organizes mentoring of staff to maintain and improve staff performance and capabilities.
- Coordinating large scale projects of considerable technical and commercial complexity.
- Perform project lead responsibilities by directing a team comprising of professional and technical staff on a variety of tasks in design, development, procurement, manufacturing, assembly, testing and commissioning.
- Prepare design documentation such as design requirements, design descriptions, design specifications, technical specifications, component specifications, test procedures and plans, commissioning procedures, registration design submissions packages, flow sheets, detail drawings, general arrangements, and equipment layouts.
- Participates in the preparation of commercial and internal proposals and approve the technical content of proposals prepared under their direction.
- Ensures that the final deliverables from their team meet customer requirements specified in the contract and overall alignment with nuclear codes and standards.
- Plans and executes work consistent with quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
- Performs engineering activities in accordance with both statutory requirements and best practices in safety and quality.
- Executes all design work effectively and reviews design work to ensure adequacy to project requirements.
- Interfaces with clients and successfully delivers engineering products in accordance with customer specifications and requirements.
- Establishes the technical approach to achieve project requirements and ensures the design satisfies these requirements.
Qualifications:
- University degree in an applicable field of engineering or science.
- PEO designation is desirable.
- 12 years of progressive experience in the discipline of machine design including experience leading technical teams.
- Demonstrated ability to successfully work on complex and parallel technical projects.
- Strong leadership and coaching skills in the development of team members and support staff;
- Strong communication (both verbal and written), and interpersonal skills;
- Three or more years of experience leading engineering teams
- Experience working in a nuclear facility licensed in Canada would be an asset.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Level 2 security clearance.
- Willing to travel to and potentially work at Project sites to meet corporate needs.
