Job Title: Mechanical Work Planner
Location: Durham Region, On

Primary Function:
The Mechanical Work Planner is responsible for assessing work requests, developing detailed work instructions, and ensuring all required materials and documentation are in place for maintenance activities. This role involves coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance efforts while ensuring compliance with nuclear industry safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Work Planning & Execution:
- Review and assess work requests, work orders, and preventive maintenance plans.
- Convert existing work plans into comprehensive, step-by-step work instructions.
- Conduct equipment walk-downs to verify deficiencies and confirm equipment configuration.
- Identify work protection requirements, including Work Permits, Confined Space Entry, Hot Work, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Task Safety Analysis (TSA), Radiological, Fire Protection, Foreign Material Exclusion (FME), and Waste Handling.
- Prepare and issue appropriate work protection documents in a timely manner.
Technical & Compliance Oversight:
- Maintain a strong understanding of nuclear plant equipment and operational processes.
- Ensure compliance with nuclear industry standards, including radiation protection, fire safety, and pressure vessel codes.
- Review work orders to verify completeness, accuracy, and required approvals.
- Select and attach relevant technical documentation, including drawings, sketches, design manuals, and manufacturer specifications.
Material & Resource Coordination:
- Identify and requisition materials required for maintenance work, ensuring all items meet design specifications.
- Confirm that materials are staged correctly and comply with necessary quality standards.
- Track material requests, follow up on delivery schedules, and expedite procurement when necessary.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Red Seal Mechanical Certification (mandatory).
- Strong knowledge of nuclear plant processes, including radiation protection, Foreign Material Exclusion (FME), and fire safety regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
- Experience with work order systems and maintenance planning tools.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with maintenance, safety, and procurement teams.
Educational Requirements:
- Grade XII (or equivalent)
- Red Seal Mechanical Certification
Preferred Experience:
- Previous experience in a nuclear or highly regulated industrial environment.
- Familiarity with pressure vessel codes and industry safety protocols.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
