Safety Analysis and Licensing Director

Your role within the team:
- You'll be a Safety Analysis and Licensing Director in support of Cernavoda 3 and 4 New Build.
- You will be responsible for delivering the Candu safety analysis, reactor core design and licensing engineering scopes of work, and acting as a liaison between the project and the client on all matters related to Canadian and Romanian nuclear regulatory authority licensing topics and reports to the VP Engineering and C34 Project Engineering Director.
- Responsible for developing and implementing Engineering Plans for the project, or phase of the project, for all scopes pertaining to sub-department scopes of work.
- Technical integration and interface control both within the project across the various disciplines involved, and with the client.
- Ensure qualified and appropriate staff are working on the project and are assigned work within their experience and skills.
- Provides guidance, technical insight, supervision, and feedback to the Project Discipline Managers that are part of his/her team.
- Oversight of technical deliverables budget, schedule, and quality.
- Ensure that the final deliverables meet customer requirements specified in the contract and overall alignment with nuclear code and standards.
- Review and approve key technical documentation for the project, or phase of the project.
- Monitoring the technical quality of engineering deliverables for the project, or phase of the project.
- Identifying and proposing improvements in the areas of the project – both proactively and in response to customer requirements.
- Liaise with external client engineering organization at the behest of the Project Engineering Director regarding the technical matters.
- Provide guidance and insight into the regulatory practices and regulations of the nuclear regulators in both Canada and the host country.
The ideal candidate:
- University degree in an applicable field of engineering or science.
- At least 10 years of experience in managing and/or performing work pertaining to all relevant CNSC REGDOCs.
- At least 15 years of applicable engineering experience including applicable experience prior to engineering management roles.
- Registered Professional Engineer in a Province of Canada, qualified to seal engineering documents in a relevant field of engineering, or eligible to obtain such registration within 6 months of hiring.
- Sound knowledge of multiple engineering fields and of nuclear technologies.
- Demonstrated skills in the management of nuclear safety and regulatory interfaces on complex technical projects, leadership, and project management of a highly technical group.
- Strong leadership and coaching skills in the development of team members and support staff.
- Excellent client focus and conflict resolution skills.
