Site Supervisor – Mechanical
Duration: 12 Months, Potential for Extension
Site: Porcupine, Ontario P0N 1H0 Canada (near Timmins)
Hourly: $70 (T4), $80 (Inc)

Role & Responsibilities:
Project Site Supervision and Leadership - Mechanical
- Supervise and coordinate the mechanical work package general construction contractors and vendors’ field construction activities for static, mobile, and rotating plant and equipment, including crushers, conveyors, pumps, mills, and other critical utility and offsite infrastructure.
- Work closely with field engineering to provide technical guidance and support to construction crews to interpret Construction Work Packages, Issued For Construction (IFC) documents, and specifications to ensure they are followed correctly and quality of work to technical standards and specifications by the general contractor.
- Monitor construction progress to ensure physical installation works proceed at pace and that as-built quantities of mechanical bulks, plant, and equipment are earned opposite scope baseline.
- Work with site services and supply chain to manage materials and equipment, ensuring that the right materials are available at the right time and in the right quantities.
- Proactively identify potential changes and manage claims avoidance, identify potential problems such as unexpected site conditions or design discrepancies, and implement solutions to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget.
- Document construction progress, perform time-tracking and validation of labour actuals to staffing plan, record changes, and maintain accurate records of materials, equipment, site conditions, and construction activities.
Team Management and Development
- Lead and direct a team of mechanical trades and general construction personnel, fostering a culture of safety, teamwork, and accountability.
- Coordinate work schedules, allocate resources, and oversee daily activities to meet project objectives and return-to-service operational goals.
- Support training and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance team performance and technical competencies.
Safety and Compliance
- Champion project commitment to safety by ensuring that the construction site adheres to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and protocols, promoting a safe working environment for all personnel.
- Ensure relevant safe work permits, environmental permits, and regulatory permits have been obtained and are retained at the project job site location during fieldworks.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards.
- Enforce compliance with company policies, government regulations, and industry best practices.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Communication
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including operations, maintenance, procurement, and supply chain teams.
- Effectively communicate project and fieldwork priorities, progress, and challenges to general contractor leadership, project management leadership and cross-functional teams.
- Engage with external contractors and vendors to ensure adherence to contractual obligations.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Red Seal Certification as a Millwright, Plant Maintenance Technician, or relevant mechanical trade.
- Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in mechanical plant and equipment installation works within mining, complex industrial, or heavy equipment environments.
- At least 3–5 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a maintenance or site operations setting.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical plant and equipment, including static mechanical systems, ore preparation equipment and systems, mineral processing equipment and systems, hydraulic, pneumatic, and rotating equipment.
- Proficiency in safe site operations (such as safe work permitting, hazard identification and control, working at heights, confined space work, hot work, lock-out tag-out), work package planning, scheduling, and execution in fast-paced brownfield project and simultaneous operational environments.
- Technical diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is an asset.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), such as SAP or Maximo.
- Familiarity with Ontario’s Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and other applicable regulations.
