Join our dynamic team at the forefront of aerospace innovation! Our client, a leading aerospace organization, is actively seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer (Hardware) for their Ottawa location.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with a diverse team of hardware engineers, embedded software specialists, and system engineers to develop and certify cutting-edge avionics products.
- Contribute to the evolution and maintenance of existing product designs, incorporating feature enhancements.
- Create comprehensive documentation to support design data and certification deliverables.
- Provide valuable input to project scheduling and budgeting estimates while diligently tracking deliverable status.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
Must Have:
- Bachelor of Engineering (Electronic, Computer, System, Software) or equivalent.
- Over 10 years of experience as a Systems Engineer specializing in avionic equipment development.
- High proficiency in requirements management flow and process, including solicitation, creation, review, and analysis.
- Proficient in requirements management tools such as DOORS, RMSys, etc.
- Expertise in System Safety Assessment and System Functional Hazard Analysis.
- Experience in new product development and certification of avionics equipment.
- Strong background in requirements capture, product development, New Product Introduction (NPI), systems engineering process, and certification of avionics equipment.
- Capability in system architectural level design.
- Hands-on proficiency with system test and verification.
- Proficient in system modeling and simulation tools (MATLAB, Simulink, ModelSim, etc.).
Nice to Have:
- Knowledge of interface standards and protocols: SPI, I2C, UART, USB, Ethernet, wireless protocols (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, cellular), RS422/485, ARINC429, MIL-1553, PCIe.
- Proficient experience with microprocessors, FPGAs, memory devices, and associated interfaces.
- Knowledge and experience with hardware qualification testing in accordance with RTCA DO-160.
- Familiarity with aerospace standards such as DO-254, ARP4754, DO-178.
- Experience in RF, DSP, Satcom (e.g., Iridium, GPS), FCC/IC/CE compliance.
- Familiarity with relevant MASPS, MOPS, and ICAO standards (e.g., DO-262, DO-343 /ED-242, TSO C159e, ETSI EN301 473, ISED RSS-170, GITEKI, FCC Part 25).
