Position Title: Distribution Structural Engineer
Location: Burnaby - Edmonds
Estimated Duration: June 24, 2024 - November 30, 2024
Pay Range: T4: $65/ INC: $78
Role Overview: We are seeking two experienced distribution structural engineers for a project involving distribution underground utilities. The ideal candidates will be familiar with concrete design and analysis, with steel design skills considered an asset. Candidates should also be comfortable working in a public environment.
Role Responsibilities:
- Develop safe engineering solutions for low to medium complexity projects.
- Assist in meeting safety, cost, quality, and time objectives.
- Conduct independent studies and analysis.
- Engage with senior engineering team for complex issues.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Minimum four (4) years of experience in a relevant engineering field.
- University graduate in applied science or engineering.
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers & Geoscientists BC or equivalent.
- Proficiency in CAD systems, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and English (written and spoken).
- Familiarity with industry standards and design software.
Work Assignment Requirements:
- Minimum 4 years as a civil-structural engineer in Canada.
- Collaboration skills in multi-discipline teams.
- Thorough knowledge of distribution plant design and assessment.
- Comfortable with remote working technologies.
- Willingness to work from home or the office in Burnaby.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and uneven terrain.
- Required qualifications include P.Eng. (civil-structural), confined space entry training, fall arrest training, PSSP 2, 3, and DBC, and a valid Class 5 BC Driver License.
Assets for the Role:
- Experience in Canadian electric utility or proximity to energized electric plant.
- Coordination with other utilities in public.
- Structural design and assessment experience.
- Familiarity with permitting processes and environmental aspects of civil engineering projects.
Additional Information:
- Prior to commencement on assignment, the selected candidate must have their own sole practitioner, or the use of their firm’s, Permit to Practice with the appropriate governing body.
- Retention and preservation of all project documentation produced by the Registrant during their contract will be retained to satisfy regulatory requirements.
